Welcome to A1 Bamboo Flooring - Your Guide to Caring for and Maintaining Beautiful Bamboo Floors

The push for environmentally friendly products and the need to make economical decisions while still having beauty and style has pushed bamboo flooring to the front of the pack for millions of homeowners around the world.

Bamboo grows very quickly and so is able to replenish itself after being harvested for flooring and other wood uses. This fact alone makes it environmentally friendly. Compared to the hundreds of years it takes for some trees to reach maturity, bamboo is the smart choice for flooring and other products as well.

Homeowners who are looking to add the beauty and elegance of wood flooring but want to remain environmentally friendly are turning to bamboo. Now that bamboo has become such a popular choice, more and more flooring companies are offering options that in the past were not available in bamboo, such as color choices. The grain of the wood is still the bamboo grain but now it can be darkened to the homeowner’s desired shade.

Laminate or Not Laminate

Whether or not bamboo is laminated is often a very confusing concept for individuals to understand. In one aspect bamboo flooring is laminate, however, unlike other laminate flooring, it is solid bamboo. To understand this is to first understand that laminate flooring is typically thin slices of wood over plywood or even photographs of wood over plywood. Bamboo FlooringThis is not true with bamboo flooring. Although it is laminated flooring, it is solid bamboo strips glued together side by side then laminated together. The end result is flooring made of solid bamboo with no plywood backing.

Manufacturers are also making it easy to install. It can be purchased pre-finished with tongue and groove joints for an easy installation or it can be purchased unfinished if the installer is willing to put in a little more work. Unfinished bamboo flooring will ultimately save money.

Long-lasting

While the inherent beauty of bamboo doesn’t fade away, the finish that is put on the flooring may be affected by time and aging. The amount of affect will depend greatly on the warranty that the flooring carries, which in turn is where price becomes a factor. The longer the warranty on the flooring is, the longer it is going to hold its shine.

How and where the flooring will be used should be the determining factor when purchasing bamboo flooring. If the flooring is going to be used in an office or other commercial application that will have a lot of traffic, then choosing one with a lifetime warranty is probably the best choice.

However, if, as a homeowner, remodeling could occur in five or ten years, then less expensive bamboo flooring could be used as it would not be as important for the flooring to hold up for a longer time.

In the end, the homeowner or business owner will decide on the bamboo flooring based on how much they are willing to pay for it; the type of installation; the anticipated use of the floor; and how long the floor should last.

Bamboo is a beautiful flooring choice that saves the environment while adding elegance and durability to the home or office.
